Aberdeen Central’s Kerry Konda named Debate coach of the year

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release)- Aberdeen Central High School speech and debate coach Kerry Konda has been named the 2024 Coach of the Year by the the National Speech & Debate Association.

Kerry Konda was presented the award by his student and Student of the Year finalist Breanna Wollman during the 2024 Donus D. Roberts Diamond and Specialty Awards Assembly during the National Speech & Debate Tournament on June 20 in Des Moines. The event is named for the former Watertown High School speech and debate coach.

Kerry’s dedication to his students’ success in speech and debate has not only led to competitive success, but has given his students a supportive environment in school where they can thrive.

The James M. Copeland High School Coach of the Year award is given out annually to honor high school coaches who reflect outstanding leadership and commitment to speech and debate activities.
