ABERDEEN, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – The Aberdeen Christian boys basketball program will be looking for a new head coach for the 2024-2025 season. Referencing a story from the Aberdeen Insider, the Knights have parted ways with their head coach, Aaron Moeller after one season.
This past season, the Knights posted a 15-7 record and that also included a 12 game winning streak between January 16th & February 13th. When asked about his release from the program, Moeller was taken aback, “the school’s choice not to retain me as coach was a significant surprise; I didn’t have any signals that the school was looking to pivot in another direction.”
Even though Moeller’s head coaching services won’t be retained, he looked back at the season with great fondness. “What I will remember most is just being with the players. There are always a lot of laughs through the course of the season & I genuinely love those boys…I’m extremely proud of the fact that we took a brand new group and we were a sniff away from making the SoDak 16.”
Moeller continued, “The 12 game win streak was extremely exciting which led to the top 10 ranking in seed points. The most exciting wins were over Roncalli and McLaughlin at the Pentagon.”
Athletic Director at Aberdeen Christian Steve Gast thanked Coach Moeller for his contributions to the program for this last season, “we greatly appreciate all the hard work, effort and commitment he made to the team, we greatly appreciate that.”
Gast mentioned that they’ll be looking for somebody to fill that role soon, “it’s open…we’re starting the process to hire the next coach.”
