Aberdeen City Council address the Animal & Fowl in the City Code

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Monday night, the Aberdeen City Council address Ordinance 22-10-6(Animal & Fowl in the City Code).

Aberdeen City Attorney Ron Wager discussed some of the amendments that was proposed to the ordinance.

Wager talks about the mental state of the pet to be determine incompatible with the city ordinance.

Wager address the issue of kennels & defines what they are.

Wager talks about what will determine whether a pet is disturbing the peace.

Wager talks about a big change that may not be allowed anymore going forward with regards pets who are proven to be disturbing.

Wager talks about the insurance owners will have to pay for these pets going forward.

Aberdeen Police Chief Dave McNeil talks about the role police play in helping out with Animal Control Authority.

Aberdeen Planning & Zoning Director, Brett Bill talks about the role of the Animal Review Board that he spent 25 years on.

The council voted 9-0 in favor of the amendments to this ordinance.  Second reading will be at the next City Council meeting, Monday, November 7th.
