Aberdeen City Council address variety of topics during Monday’s meeting

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)-  Beside budget issues, the Aberdeen City Council addressed a series of topics on Monday night.

Aberdeen Finance Officer Jordan McQuillen talked about approving an agreement for the Northeast Council of Governments Joint Cooperative.

McQuillen next talks about approving an agreement with Eide Bailey to continue to do audits for the city of Aberdeen.

City Attorney Ron Wager(Wag-er) discussed an ordinance dealing with amending an agreement with MIDCO.

Wager talks about what the FCC has done that led to this step.

Wager believes this is something that they didn’t want to do was required to do so.

Aberdeen City Council addressed the rezoning of property that used to be for Presentation College.

Aberdeen Community Development Director Ken Hubbert:

Brett Bill with the Aberdeen Housing Authority talks about what they are planning to do with that.

Bill was asked what to do with the sidewalks and bike trail around the area.

Aberdeen City Manager Robin Bobzien next updated on the upgrade for the water treatment plant.

Wager inform the council what Banner Engineering(Brookings) has been doing since the contract was approved.

At the end of the meeting, City Manager Bobzien talked about turbidity study that the public will receive notice about.

Water Works Supervisor Jim Ackerman inform the council of a study that has to be done monthly.

Ackerman believes the higher than normal reading may be computer related.

The Aberdeen City Council will hold their final meeting of 2024 on Monday, December 23rd.
