ABERDEEN, S.D.(Hub City Radio)- The Aberdeen City Council once again addressed data centers at Monday night’s meeting.

During the open forum segment, Clark Thares spoke on his own behalf.  He addressed statements made by Aberdeen Development Corporation’s Executive Director Tim Hanigan.

Thares told the council he believes the ADC needs to be more transparent.

Thares also questioned the city on why they are selling water to Ellendale for their data center.

Hanigan responded to claims made by Thares.

Hanigan told the council what their role is when it comes to data centers.

Aberdeen City Attorney Ron Wager updated the council on the ordinance dealing with guidelines for data centers.

Wager also address the issue of expanding their zoning jurisdiction beyond the city limits.

Wager acknowledged the timeline to get an ordinance addressing data centers will not be ready by November.

Next Monday, the council is expected to address a resolution looking to extend the moratorium beyond November.
