Aberdeen City Council addressed ordinances dealing with water

ABERDEEN, S.D. (Hub City Radio)-

The Aberdeen City Council addressed ordinances dealing with water rates within the city.  Aberdeen Finance Officer Jordan McQuillen talked about each ordinance.

McQuillen talked about the first ordinance looking to setup a loan needed to complete the water tower and transmission line project.

The council approved the first reading of the ordinance.  McQuillen next talked about an ordinance looking to set the water rates to pay off the loan.

McQuillen discussed a separate ordinance looking to better categorize the type of customers that uses the water in the city.

McQuillen believed this will give some more authority to the Finance Office.

The council approved first reading of all the ordinances.  Second reading is scheduled for Monday, November 2nd.

The new rates if passed would go into effect on January 1st.
