Aberdeen City Council approve 1st reading of cannabis ordinance

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Monday night, the Aberdeen City Council passed a 1st reading to establish guidelines for zoning of cannabis in the city.

City Attorney Ron Wager reminded the council where dispensaries can be located at.

Wager talks about his discussion with legal counsel from the South Dakota Department of Revenue.

Following the advice of counsel, Wager offers the following proposal in the ordinance.

Wager mentions the licenses can’t be transferable.

City Council voted unanimously(8-0) to approve the 1st reading.

2nd reading and potential final approval is schedule for next Monday, October 4th.

If approved, the ordinance will go into effect October 27th.  The ordinance will allow a maximum of 6 dispensaries in the city.
