Aberdeen City Council approve the Planning Commission’s recommendation on medical marijuana

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Monday night the Aberdeen City Council approved the 1st reading on stop gaps for medical marijuana establishments in the city.

Aberdeen Zoning and Planning Director Brett Bill told the council why the ordinance is needed for now.

The ordinance had a 2 year sunset clause.  Councilman Ron Ronayne asks why the length of time, City Attorney Ron Wager explain why it was put in.

Ronayne put in an amendment to change the sunset date to January 1, 2022.  That amendment was approved unanimously.

Brett hopes the City Council will do work sessions to address medical marijuana establishments.

The ordinance was approved unanimously by the council & a 2nd reading will come up on the next meeting June 7th.
