ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen City Council on Monday held a work session prior to their city counmcil meeting to discuss locations for their new Public Works facility.

Public Works Director Stu Nelson talks about the criteria they were using in conjunction with HKG Architects.

Nelson narrow it down to two locations.

Nelson talks about the pros and cons of both locations starting with the location on Melgaard Road.

Nelson discuss some setbacks starting with being close to residential area.

Another negative is during the wintertime this is the general location where the city puts the excess snow in.

Nelson discuss positives for the one on North Fairground road starting with not nearly as many residential area.

One negative Nelson note is that this would cost the city more to be built here compared to Melgaard Road.

Nelson acknowledge that the cost could be anywhere between $700,000 to as much as a $900,000 difference.

No formal action was done by the Aberdeen City Council.  This will be addressed at a later date.
