ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen City Council on Monday night discuss the ordinance in place dealing with the number of medical marijuana dispensaries allowed within the city limits.
City Attorney Ron Wager reminded the council the number of dispensaries allowed in the city.
Of those six permits, only two of them are operational. the other four were not in place within the one year after they were permitted.
City Attorney Ron Wager feels the council might need to make adjustments to the ordinance that is place now.
Mayor Travis Schaunaman talks about some of the criteria in place and that is on the city’s official website.
Among those in favor of leaving the ordinance in place for now is Councilwoman Tiffany Langer.
One person expressing some concern was Councilman David Novstrup.
Novstrup talks about whether there should be more than two dispensaries in Aberdeen.
Councilman Justin Reinbold asked Police Chief Dave MacNeil if he’s heard any concerns so far.
No formal action was taken. Topic will likely be brought up again at a later date.
