Aberdeen City Council held a work session Monday night dealing with cannabis

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- For the 2nd straight Monday night, the Aberdeen City Council did a work session dealing with the zoning of cannabis.

City Attorney Ron Wager presented the number of dispensaries being planned for Rapid City.

Council member Josh Rife felt that with few medical marijuana cards, the number of dispensaries is not that important.

Councilman Clint Rux believe the dispensaries will be used not just by Aberdeen but also in the region.

Cannabis dispensaries & farms are required to be at least 1,000 feet away from schools, Councilman Dave Lunzman expressed concerns about other family owned businesses & churches will have if one is located near them.

Councilmen Rux, Rife, & Lunzman believes the minimum distance between churches & day care facilities should be at 150 feet.

Another issue discussed is what time to be allowed to get cannabis.  Councilmen Justin Reinbold & Rux wants to be liked the hours of a pharmacy.
