ABERDEEN, S.D. (Hub City Radio)-
On Monday night, Aberdeen City Attorney Ron Wager talked about setting a date for a resolution to extend the data center moratorium.
The moratorium for now is scheduled to end in November. Wager reminded the council about what was discussed in last week’s meeting.
Wager talked about putting a date in place for a public hearing to extend the moratorium.
During the open forum, one Aberdeen citizen suggested to do a moratorium not allowing data centers in the city. Wager inform the public that moratoriums can’t be used for that.
Aberdeen Mayor Travis Schaunaman asked Wager why this is not on the consent calender.
City Councilman David Novstrup credit the public for their comments but wish they would have an opportunity to respond. He used this segment to address the issue of housing brought up during the open forum.
The council approved Wager’s request. The hearing for the resolution to extend the moratorium to be held on Monday, October 19th.
