ABERDEEN, S.D.(Hub City Radio)- The Aberdeen City will do a special session Monday to allow local businesses an opportunity to express how data centers can impact them either positively or negatively.   This is the second of three scheduled meetings the city is doing as they are looking to establish guidelines for data centers within the city limits.

The public are invited to attend but will not be given an opportunity to speak.  They will have a chance to express their opinions on Monday, September 14th.

One location that they can express concern is with the Brown County Commission.  Last Tuesday, Clark Thares of Aberdeen spoke on his own behalf and not representing any particular business or organization.

The Brown County Commission has an ordinance in place dealing with data centers.  Thares during the open forum offered suggestions toward that.  He suggested how to deal with energy usage.

Thares next addressed the issue of noise.

Thares also discussed how data centers should address water usage.

Thares discussed putting a limit on what type of campus the city should use.

Thares also expressed other concerns such as property tax abatements and concerns about radiation.

The meeting on Monday will begin at 5:30pm and will take place at the Municipal Building.
