ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Last Wednesday, the city of Aberdeen was hit with a major blizzard that led to some very dangerous conditions. At Monday night Aberdeen City Council, City Manger Dave McNeil reflected on what happened that day.
McNeil took the time to thank the staff for their work on that day.
McNeil credit the departments for assisting the city during these treacherous conditions.
McNeil talked about the accident that took place near Groton due to the whiteout conditions.
McNeil went over the snow removal procedures. He first acknowledged why downtown was the last location to be plowed.
McNeil also talked about the plowing being done near the schools during recess and end of the school day that disturbed him.
Public Works Director Stu Nelson talked about the difficulty of plowing due to the rain that preceded it and the high winds that came along with the snow.
Officially the city got 3.7 inches of snow but combined that the winds led to drift some people claim were as high as 3-4 feet.
