Aberdeen City Manager Dave McNeil discussed next year’s city budget

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Hub City Radio)- Aberdeen City Manager Dave McNeil during his city manager report discussed the upcoming city budget for 2027.

McNeil credited the city staff for the budget this year he inherited when he became city manager late in 2026.

McNeil broke down how the budget will be budgeted for 2027.

McNeil looked ahead to the figures for the 2027 budget.

McNeil discussed the general fund for 2027 and compared it to that of this year’s budget.

McNeil also talked about possible cuts needed to the department to insure a balance budget.

McNeil also discussed the Capital Improvement Programs for 2027.  One he focused on getting the funds needed to get the water from the Missouri River to Aberdeen.

Aberdeen Finance Officer Jordan McQuillen went over how they determine the numbers for the general fund.

McQuillen went over sales tax revenue for the city.

Future meetings will provide more updates on the budget.  They hope to introduce the resolution dealing with the 2027 budget on Tuesday, September 8th meeting.  Reminder September 7th falls on Labor Day which is a federal holiday.
