ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Aberdeen Fire & Rescue has been out and about a bit more than normal in the past week and that’s a good thing.
The crew has started a service where they will go around town and wish individuals 18 years or younger a happy birthday. Jesse Rystrom, Aberdeen Fire and Rescue Lt., talked about the program.
Fire departments in Brookings and Watertown are also providing the service as youth are no longer in classrooms and have limited interaction with their friends.
Rystrom said they’ve gotten about eight requests per day to deliver birthday wishes.
Rystrom said people can contact Aberdeen Fire and Rescue to line up a birthday trip. He said the department appreciates notice a day in advance if possible.
