ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release) – On March 12, 2022 at 0304 hours Aberdeen Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported apartment fire with smoke coming from a single unit in the 10 block of 7th Ave Southeast. On arrival, crews found a basement apartment unit with smoke coming from doorway. Fire department personnel were able to make entry and noted a moderate amount of smoke throughout this unit. As crews continued searching, forced entry was made into bedroom area and an adult subject was found and escorted out of the apartment. Subject was evaluated by Aberdeen Fire Rescue paramedics for smoke exposure. There was evidence of burning material within this single unit, but fire was out on arrival. Smoke was ventilated from apartment. All tenants were allowed to return to their units. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
