Aberdeen Fire Rescue responds to dumpsite fire

ABERDEEN, S.D. (Press Release) – On Monday, April 20,  at 12:01 p.m., Aberdeen Fire Rescue responded to a dumpsite fire involving a large pile of grass clippings and yard waste at 2600 N 5th Street. On arrival crews found the grass clippings and yard waste pile 75% involved. The fire was contained to the pile. There were no injuries and no property loss. Fire crews were on scene for about 3 hours. The fire cause was unintentional.

Responding units included Aberdeen Fire Rescue, Truck 1, Rescue 2, Rescue 3, Brush 1, Medic 1, Medic 4, Fire Prevention 1 and Battalion 3, as well as Aberdeen Rural Fire Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Brown County Emergency Management, Brown County Landfill and Dependable Sanitation.
