ABERDEEN, S.D. – On October 6, 2022 at 1512 hours, Aberdeen Fire Rescue responded to the 600 block of south 13th Street for a reported fire inside a mobile home. On arrival, fire crews found a small area of fire that occurred near the furnace. Fire crews extinguished hot spots and completed overhaul to ensure no additional fire spread. The cause of fire remains under investigation. All damage was limited to the furnace area. Two adults and one juvenile were able to evacuate without issue. Several pets were also inside and unharmed.
Prior to Aberdeen Fire Rescue arrival, the tenant utilized a fire extinguisher to control most of the fire. Due to power and gas being shutoff, Red Cross was contacted to assist the occupants with temporary housing. No injuries were reported.
