Aberdeen Karting Club calls it quits after 30 years

As much as it saddens many to hear, the Aberdeen Karting Club has decided to shut down indefinitely. Many in our area have raced or cheered or participated in some way over the years, including several that went on to racing at the “big track”, Brown County Speedway. Names race fans recognize, like Chad Becker, Mike Stearns, Jamie (Moulsoff) Krokel, Alex Guthmiller, Zach Humphries and even BCS Announcer Jason Schaunaman to list a few. Jayde Schott, one of the last 2 board members left said the track leaves memories and a legacy.

Schott said the rising costs, primarily insurance and lack of interest are the largest driving factors behind this decision.

As a Club, they relied on parent volunteers and others to help with the work load.

Schott also emphasized, that as is the case with many sports, it was more than just the competition.. it was like a family.

They are grateful for all the support they have had and will cherish the memories made at the little track on the Brown County Fairgrounds.
