Aberdeen man gets suspended prison sentence for possession of child pornography

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Aberdeen American News)- An Aberdeen man has admitted to four charges of possession of child pornography.

On each charge, Alex Bartlett, 27, was sentenced to 60 days in prison, received a 10-year suspended prison sentence and was placed on probation for six years. His sentences run concurrently, and he was fined a total of  $1,426. He must also register as a sex offender.

According to court documents, Bartlett admitted to having both unlawful photos and videos between September of 2019 and February of 2020. He was initially charged with nine counts of felony possession, manufacturing or distribution of child pornography and nine counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Brown County Chief Deputy State’s Attorney Jennifer Stoddard said Bartlett solicited the videos and images from the victim with whom he was connected on social media.
