Aberdeen man to run for US Senate seat

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Dakota Broadcasting)- Aberdeen man Brian Bengs has announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate.  Bengs kicked off his campaign at the “One Legged Pheasant” brewery in Aberdeen on Nov. 11th on a campaign he calls “South Dakotans First”.  Bengs described what “South Dakotans First” means exactly.

According to Bengs he has been a registered independent his entire life, but is seeking the Democratic nomination for US Senate.  Bengs is a former college professor, military veteran, and attorney who has not held public office before.

Bengs talked about his desire to bridge the deep divides in this country.  According to Bengs we can sometimes live in alternate realities depending on where someone gets their information.  Bengs says by shifting more power to the states with his “South Dakotans First” plan, it will force more interaction with one another and make us less focused on what happens far away in Washington D.C.
