Aberdeen Police Chief Dave McNeil react to what happened Wednesday

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Wednesday, the Aberdeen Police Department was involved in two occasions involving reports of weapon near two elementary schools.

Aberdeen Police Chief Dave McNeil reacted to both occasions.  The first dealt with what happened near Aberdeen Roncalli Primary School.

McNeil talked about the response of the Aberdeen Police Department to this.

Police was able to reach out to that individual and acknowledge what the weapon was.

McNeil reminds everyone that the weapon is indeed against the Aberdeen City Ordinance.

McNeil credit the citizen to call in to the Police Department that help defuse this situation.

While that was happening on North Kline Street, a similar situation was happening near the Salvation Army and Lincoln Elementary School in Southwest Aberdeen.

McNeil unfortunately could not identify who was involved in that one.

Going forward, Chief McNeil discuss what information a citizen should provide when they call the police department regarding weapon violations.

McNeil offer advice to try to make sure the city of Aberdeen remains a very safe place to live.

Both Aberdeen Roncalli Primary and Lincoln Elementary Schools were on lockdown for a period of time Wednesday afternoon.
