Aberdeen Police Department respond to comments made by Sheriff Lunaman’s wife at last week’s Brown County Commission meeting

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- At last week’s Brown County Commission meeting, Sheriff Dave Lunzman’s wife, Mary Jane accused the commission of leaking information about an investigation involving her at the Brown County Jail last year.

On Tuesday, the Aberdeen Police Department responded to her statements at this week’s meeting.

Aberdeen Police Chief Dave McNeil runs down the guidelines they were going to discuss.

Aberdeen Police Captain Jay Tobin seek to correct some of the allegations made by MJ Lunzman.

Tobin discuss that there was no valid warrant was authorized for her to do a blood test.

Tobin also said the Lunzman didn’t follow protocol even after the officer provided the tube needed to get blood.

Tobin discuss the officer wasn’t present when Lunzman did the blood test.

Chief McNeil offered some suggestions on how to provide better communications between the police department & the Brown County Sheriff’s Office starting with the issue of mental health.

McNeil discuss six other suggestions including not hiring family members for various positions.

The statements were made during the open forum segment of the commission meeting, so Brown County Commission wasn’t allow to make any comments.
