Aberdeen Police respond to shots fired at North Congress Street

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Aberdeen Police officers responded to a report of several shots being fired at the 700 block of North Congress Street.
The Aberdeen Police released the following statement on their Facebook page:
“On Dec. 10, around 11 a.m., Aberdeen Police officers responded to a report of several shots being fired at a residence in the 700 block of North Congress St.
When they arrived, officers found an individual with an apparent gunshot wound and transported the individual to an area hospital. Upon arrival, APD learned there was a second individual involved who fled the scene. Officers were able to identify the other individual and possible vehicle description.
This prompted the APD to put out a public alert in an effort to locate the vehicle. Area schools were advised of the situation. Approximately 40 minutes after the call, a South Dakota State Trooper located the vehicle in the 100 block of West Melgaard.
The individual involved was located and transported to an area hospital for an apparent gunshot wound.
There is no ongoing threat to the public. APD continues to investigate the incident.  If you have any information related to this event, please call 605-626-7911.
Agencies involved include the South Dakota State Troopers, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Brown County Emergency Management, South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks, Aberdeen Fire Rescue and APD.”
Among locations that was on lockdown was the YMCA.  The lockdown lasted for about fifteen minutes.  The incident took place near O.M.Tiffany.  No students or staff was injured.
