Aberdeen School Board hears about preliminary budget for 2023-24 school year

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen School Board on Monday heard about projections for the next school year.  South Dakota law requires that a preliminary budget needs to be submitted by May.

School Board Finance Director Tom Janish talks about the general fund.

Janish talks about enrollment declining this year with enrolling expecting to be less next year.

Expenses expected to be about $35 million.

Revenues anticipated to be around $34.8 million, Janish expect a slight deficit but acknowledge that is about normal.

Aberdeen School Board is looking ahead to the summer to budget for the next school year.
