Aberdeen Smittys advance to the Class Legion “A” Tournament

WATERTOWN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)– The Aberdeen Smittys defeated Watertown Post 17, 1-0 in Game 2 of their best of three series to advance to the State Legion Tournament. Aberdeen swept the series, 2-0.

The Aberdeen Smittys would get terrific pitching from starter Philip Zens who would throw a complete game four-hitter.  Zens would get Watertown’s Carson Mutschler to ground out, with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh to get the win. (Audio courtesy of Brent Nathaniel of KWAT)

Zens struck out six Watertown batters while walking 3 & drove in the only run of the game with an RBI ground-out in the 4th inning.

The Smittys now move on to the the Legion State “A” Tournament that will begins on Tuesday, July 25th in Yankton against the Harrisburg Gold Post 45 squad at 12:30p.
