ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – There will be high school baseball in South Dakota this summer, and Aberdeen will field a team. After the National Division of the American Legion pulled the plug on sponsoring Legion teams across the country this season, state officials decided to see if there was a way to play independently. Jay Kusler, President of the Aberdeen Hardball Association, said 13 of the 16 Class A teams have committed to having a season with the other three yet to vote.
He expects the Aberdeen squad to play between 35 and 40 games this summer.
Kusler explains that there will be a state tournament, but it will be different than in previous years.
Meanwhile, Class B teams are still having meetings to decide their course of action.
