Absentee voting starts Friday

ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The general election is fast approaching, but people can get a head start on voting this week.

While the election is Tuesday, Nov. 3, those wishing to vote by absentee ballot can cast votes starting on Friday, Sept. 18.

Brown County Auditor Cathy McNickle provides the details.

She said that while there has been a lot of national debate about the safeguards surrounding absentee and mail-in ballots, there is no issue locally.

McNickle said because of the pandemic, absentee numbers were high in the June election and they are also on record pace for the upcoming election.

McNickle said the county is still looking for volunteers to help staff vote centers. She assured that all safety measures will be in place.
