ACLU is looking for volunteers for 2026 elections

ABERDEEN, S.D. (Hub City Radio)-
The ACLU of South Dakota are training volunteers across South Dakota to serve as election observers for the upcoming November elections.
Samantha Chapman, ACLU of South Dakota advocacy manager will be conducting the training for those elections.
Chapman compared the elections to those that occurred back in 2024.

Chapman talked about SB175 that was passed by this year’s legislature dealing with documents needed to register to vote in South Dakota.

Chapman explained the consequences if procedures aren’t followed in order to register to vote in the state.

The seminar two years ago took place back in August.  This year is happening in October.  Chapman explained why it’s occuring later.

Chapman preview what she will talk about at the seminar.

The seminar will take place in Aberdeen on Wednesday, October 13th at the K.O.Lee Library from 5:30-7pm.  They encourage everyone to register in advance.  You can also do it day of in person.  Two requirements.  One is you can’t be a candidate and the other is you are required to be at a polling station for a minimum of two hours.
