ABERDEEN, S.D. (Hub City Radio)-

On Friday, an activation ceremony was held for the 2nd Platoon, 452 Ordinance Company who will be deployed overseas.

Among the speakers at the ceremony were both Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds along with Aberdeen Mayor Travis Schaunaman.

All three discussed the sacrifices made not just by the soldiers but the family members they leave behind.

Senator Thune talked about the role South Dakota has played in previous wars.

Senator Rounds discuss the role of the federal government.

Mayor Schaunaman told the audience that the soldiers will always have the support of the Aberdeen community.

The unit are schedule to be deployed for about one year.  For security reasons, where they are being deployed to has to remain classified.
