Active cases down slightly, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Active COVID infections ticked down slightly and there were no new deaths in figures released today by the South Dakota Department of Health. The state reported 414 new cases and 432 recoveries, lowering the amount of active cases to 6,044 (there were 4,179 one week ago). The state’s COVID-related death total remained at 288.

So far, South Dakota has had 29,339 confirmed cases and 23,007 recoveries. There are currently 302 individuals hospitalized in connection with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had 18 new cases and 21 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 293. So far, the county has had 1,593 confirmed cases, 1,296 recoveries and four COVID-related deaths. There are currently 19 people hospitalized in the county.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 8,189 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 3,207, and Lincoln County with 1,897. Other counties totals include Codington with 1,123, Brookings with 1,025, Beadle with 961, Meade with 725, Hughes with 656, and Clay with 654.
