Active cases of COVID-19 climb by 23; one new death in South Dakota

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – South Dakota saw a rise in active COVID-19 cases according to numbers released by the Department of Health today. The state has 95 new confirmed cases to go along 71 new recoveries, pushing the amount of active infections to 865 (there were 886 one week ago).

The state also reported one new death, bringing that overall total to 116.

South Dakota has had 7,789 confirmed cases, 6,808 recoveries, and 88,184 negative tests. There are currently 61 hospitalizations connected to the virus.

Locally, Brown County reported two new confirmed cases and also two new recoveries, leaving the amount of active infections at 21. The county has had 365 total confirmed cases, 342 recoveries, 3,591 negative tests, and two deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 3,822 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 704, Beadle County with 561, and Lincoln County with 406.
