Active cases of COVID-19 continue to drop

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The number of active cases of COVID-19 continues to drop. The Department of Health reported today 30 new confirmed cases as well as 62 new recoveries, lowering the active cases down to 892. One week ago, that number stood at 1,003.

South Dakota also has 1,046 new negative tests. The death total remained at 75, while hospitalizations went up six to 93.

The state currently has had 5,928 confirmed cases, 60,467 negative tests, and 4,961 recoveries.

Brown County has two new confirmed cases and four new recoveries, lowering the number of active cases to 30, 15 less than a week ago. The county has had 313 total confirmed cases, 2,170 negative tests, and 281 recoveries. Of the cases associated with the DemKota Ranch Beef Plant, 159 of the 165 individuals have recovered.

Minnehaha County has had 3,485 total confirmed cases, followed by Beadle County with 448, and Pennington County with 392. Lincoln County has had 270 and Union County 113.

There have been 17, 182 tests conducted of staff and residents of the state’s nursing homes and assisted care facilities. Of that number, there have been 71 confirmed cases.
