Active cases up 453, slight increase in hospitalizations, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Active COVID cases were up by 453, there was a slight increase in hospitalizations and no new COVID-related deaths, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 783 new confirmed cases and 330 recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections to 17,350. There were five new hospitalizations, increasing that total to 582. The death toll remained at 819.

Overall, South Dakota has had 73,848 confirmed cases and 55,679 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 62 new confirmed cases and 10 recoveries, increasing the amount of active cases to 729. So far, the county has had 3,321 confirmed cases and 2,575 recoveries. There have ben 17 total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 18,938 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 7,843, and Lincoln County with 5,033. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,482, Brookings with 2,271, Beadle with 2,166, Lawrence with 1,834, Meade with 1,589, and Hughes with 1,548.
