Active cases up more than 200, three new deaths including one in Marshall Co.

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state saw an increase of more than 200 active COVID-19 cases and added three new deaths – including one in Marshall County – according to totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 558 new confirmed cases and 337 new recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections to 8,688 (there were 6,604 one week ago). The new deaths – the others were in Buffalo and Miner counties – pushed the state’s overall COVID-related death total to 333.

So far, South Dakota has had 34,031 confirmed cases and 26,023 recoveries. There are currently 332 individuals hospitalized in connection with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had 16 new cases and 13 new recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections to 376. In all, the county has had 1,823 confirmed cases, 1,443 recoveries and four COVID-related deaths. There are 20 people hospitalized because of the virus.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 9,437 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 3,742, and Lincoln County with 2,313. Other counties totals include Codington with 1,296, Brookings with 1,242, Beadle with 1,094, Meade with 826, Hughes with 750, and Clay with 724.
