Active COVID-19 cases drop by nearly 100, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s number of active COVID-19 cases dropped by nearly 100 and there were no new COVID-related deaths in the totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state reported 278 new cases and 373 new recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 4,179 (there were 3,684 one week ago). The state’s death total remained at 248.

So far, South Dakota has had 24,876 total cases and 20,449 recoveries. There are currently 250 people hospitalized in association with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had 17 new cases and 21 new recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 225. In all, the county has had 1,380 confirmed cases, 1,151 recoveries, and four COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 7,274 cases, followed by Pennington County with 2,667, and Lincoln County with 1,585. Other counties totals include Codington with 1,014, Beadle with 858, Brookings with 849, Meade with 638, and Clay with 589.
