Active COVID cases continue to rise, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s number of active COVID infections continues to rise, but there were no new deaths reported among totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today.

South Dakota had 187 more cases and 102 new recoveries, pushing the amount of active cases to 2,730 (there were 1,570 one week ago). The state’s death total remained at 167. In all, South Dakota has had 13,509 confirmed cases and 10,612 recoveries. There are currently 76 individuals hospitalized in connection with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had 13 new cases and seven new recoveries, moving the number of active infections to 131. The county has had 675 total confirmed cases and 541 recoveries. There have been three deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 5,267 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 1,432 and Lincoln County with 907. Other counties with 300 or more confirmed cases include Beadle with 639, Clay with 353, Codington with 318, Brookings with 321 and Meade with 300.
