Active COVID cases decrease by more than 300; no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Active COVID infections decreased by more than 300, hospitalizations remained nearly the same and there were no new deaths, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state reported 32 new confirmed cases and 359 recoveries, lowering active cases by 327 down to 3,678. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus dropped one to 161. The state’s overall COVID-related toll remained at 1,705.

So far, South Dakota has had 107,180 confirmed cases and 101,797 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had two new confirmed cases and 14 recoveries, lowering active infections to 171. In all, the county has had 4,846 confirmed cases and 4,600 recoveries. There have 75 COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 26,775 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,248, and Lincoln County with 7,369. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,713, Brookings with 3,369, Davison with 2,879, Lawrence with 2,732, and Yankton with 2,719.
