Active COVID cases drop by 250; no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Active COVID infections and hospitalizations continued to drop and there were no new deaths reported, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 202 new confirmed cases and 450 recoveries, lowering the amount of active cases to 3,428. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus dropped by nine down to 152. The state’s COVID-related death toll remained at 1,705.

Overall, South Dakota has had 107,380 confirmed cases and 102,247 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 14 new confirmed cases and 28 recoveries, lowering active infections down to 157. In all, the county has had 4,860 confirmed cases and 4,628 recoveries. There have been 75 COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 26,823 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,271, and Lincoln County with 7,389. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,717, Brookings with 3,375, Davison with 2,881, Lawrence with 2,738, and Yankton with 2,719.
