Active COVID cases drop by more than 350, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The COVID numbers continued to drop according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. There were 244 confirmed cases and 595 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 4,751, the lowest total in months. The number of people hospitalized in connection with the virus dropped by two to 240. There were no new deaths.

So far, South Dakota has had 103,743 confirmed cases and 97,407 recoveries. There have been 1,585 total COVID-related deaths.

Locally, Brown County had 16 new confirmed cases and 36 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 264. In all, the county has had 4,682 confirmed cases and 4,350 recoveries. There have been 68 deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 26,028 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 11,838, and Lincoln County with 7,114. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,614, Brookings with 3,214, Davison with 2,808, Lawrence with 2,657, and Yankton with 2,597.
