Active COVID cases drop, state reports one new death

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s number of active COVID-19 cases dropped for the second straight day and there was one new death according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The state had 66 new cases along with 82 new recoveries, lowering the active infections to 1,513 (there were 1,222 one week ago). The additional death gives the state 162 COVID-related deaths.

South Dakota has had 11,571 confirmed cases and 9,896 recoveries. There are currently 58 individuals hospitalized because of the virus.

Locally, Brown County had one new case and 16 new recoveries, lowering the number of active cases to 79. The county has had 562 total confirmed cases, 480 recoveries and three total deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 4,954 total confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 1,091, Lincoln County with 805 and Beadle County with 620.
