Active COVID cases, hospitalizations, death all increase

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Active COVID cases, hospitalizations and deaths all increased according to totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 1,024 confirmed cases and 691 recoveries, pushing the amount of active infections to 16,595. Hospitalizations associated with the virus also increased by 39 to 607. The state reported three new deaths to move that figure to 540.

So far, South Dakota has had 57,334 confirmed cases and 40,199 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 28 new cases and 24 recoveries, slightly increasing active cases to 599. In all, the county has had 2,613 confirmed cases and 2,006 recoveries. There have been eight total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 15,059 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 5,981, and Lincoln County with 3,864. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,024, Brookings with 1,827, Beadle with 1,699, Davison with 1,542, Lawrence with 1,392, Ogalala Lakota with 1,269, and Meade with 1,244.

There will be free COVID-testing in Aberdeen Thursday-Saturday at the Brown County Fairgrounds. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Pre-registration is required. Register online at doineedacovid19test.com.
