Active COVID cases, hospitalizations up slightly, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s active COVID cases and hospitalizations showed a small increase, while deaths remained the same in figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 181 new cases and 174 new recoveries pushing the amount of active infections to 4,274 (there were 3,828 on week ago). The state’s death total remained at 248. South Dakota had nine new hospitalizations associated with the virus moving that figure to 241.

In all, South Dakota has had 24,598 cases and 20,076 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had seven new cases and nine new recoveries, lowering the amount of active cases to 229. So far, the county has had 1,363 confirmed cases and 1,130 recoveries. There have four total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 7,219 confirmed cases, followed by Penning County with 2,623, and Lincoln County with 1,567. Other counties totals include Codington with 1,001, Beadle with 850, Brookings with 846, Meade with 632, and Clay with 586.
