Active COVID cases up slightly; light numbers in all categories

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – COVID-19 numbers were light across the board according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 111 new confirmed cases and 68 recoveries moving the amount of active infections to 6,031. Hospitalizations were up six to 268, and there were no new deaths, leaving the overall state total at 1,513.

So far, South Dakota has had 100,643 confirmed cases and 93,099 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had seven new confirmed cases and one new recovery, increasing the amount of active infections to 288. In all, the county has had 4,505 confirmed cases and 4,154 recoveries. There have been 63 total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 25,333 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 11,457, and Lincoln County with 6,911. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,494, Brookings with 3,044, Davison with 2,737, Lawrence with 2,595, Yankton with 2,533, and Beadle with 2,520.
