Active COVID infections continue to decrease, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s number of active COVID infections decreased by more than 200 for the second day in a row, and there were no new deaths according to information released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The state had 169 new cases and 413 new recoveries, lowering the active cases to 2,434 (there were 2,875 one week ago). The state’s COVID-related deaths remained at 173.

So far, South Dakota has had 15,571 confirmed cases and 12,964 recoveries. There are currently 76 people hospitalized in connection with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had 10 new cases and 22 new recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 164. In all, the county has had 848 confirmed cases and 681 recoveries. There have been three COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 5,653 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 1,666 and Lincoln County with 1,015. Other counties totals include Beadle with 654, Brookings with 538, Codington with 490, and Clay with 479.
