PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Active COVID infections and hospitalizations continued to drop, and there were no new deaths, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state reported 277 new confirmed cases and 406 recoveries, lowering the amount of active cases by 129 to 4,103. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus were down five, dropping to 195, the lowest total since September.
The state has had 106,063 confirmed cases and 100,293 recoveries. There have been 1,667 COVID-related deaths.
Locally, Brown County had 12 new confirmed cases and 28 recoveries, lowering active infections to 199. So far, the county has had 4,797 confirmed cases and 4,523 recoveries. There have been 75 COVID-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 26,509 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,115, and Lincoln County with 7,281. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,686, Brookings with 3,329, Davison with 2,858, Lawrence with 2,719, and Yankton with 2,696.
