Active COVID infections, hospitalizations up slightly; no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s COVID-19 totals remained relatively unchanged according to numbers released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 181 new confirmed cases and 119 recoveries, increasing active infections by about 60 to 5,102. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus went up by five to 242 and there were no new deaths.

In all, the state has had 103,499 confirmed cases and 96,812 recoveries. There have been 1,585 COVID-related deaths.

Locally, Brown County had nine new confirmed cases and one new recovery, increasing the amount of active infections slightly to 284. So far, the county has had 4,666 confirmed cases and 4,314 recoveries. There have been 68 deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 25,972 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 11,811, and Lincoln with 7,089. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,607, Brookings with 3,201, Davison with 2,802, Lawrence with 2,655, Yankton with 2,596, and Beadle with 2,556.
