Active infections and hospitalizations down slightly, one new death

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state’s COVID-19 numbers did not alter much according to totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had 539 new confirmed cases and 568 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections by 29 to 16,783. Hospitalizations were down by 12 and there was one new COVID-releated death.

So far, South Dakota has had 87,038 confirmed cases and 69,144 recoveries. There have been 1,111 deaths and there are currently 491 individuals hospitalized in association with the virus.

Locally, Brown County had 23 new confirmed cases and 25 recoveries, lowering the amount of active cases to 698. In all, the county has had 3,915 confirmed cases and 3,187 recoveries. There have been 30 total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 22,081 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 9,447, and Lincoln County with 5,835. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,936, Brookings with 2,620, Davison with 2,520, Beadle with 2,386, Lawrence with 2,230, Yankton with 2,098, and Meade with 1,914.
