PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – Keeping farmers on the land was a concern for members of the South Dakota House Ag and Natural Resources Committee.
Ag Department Secretary Kim Vanneman, appearing before the committee, was questioned about the ability of her department to help find the next generation of farmers.
Vanneman told the committee that its not just farming that needs more young people.
Vanneman says its difficult for her department to get in the middle of farm land transitions.
There were no bills connected with the discussion.
